About Me

Thank you for stopping by my site.  I have been painting for about 20 years off and on but never seriously until 5 years ago when I entered a program called Art Awakenings.  This program teaches people with mental health issues to create art as a coping skill and process some of those emotions you just can't talk about.  I graduated earlier this year as a Professional Artist and there were many rigorous steps I had to take to prove myself.  Including solo exhibitions, gallery sales, teaching classes, attend First Friday and more.  I was very pleased when I graduated.  The confidence it gave me as an artist was so valuable to my identity.  I can't say enough good things about Art Awakenings.

I paint mostly with acrylics but I also do watercolor and mixed media pieces.  I am always trying out new products and seeing what they can do.  My pour paintings are made with a chemical concoction of acrylic mediums and paint conditioners to get just the right consistency and cell structure.  I don't use any silicone in my paintings so you never have to worry about them breaking down after a period of time. Most paintings are covered with resin for hi-definition effects.  The larger pieces are covered in a high gloss varnish for protection.

My newest style I started last year and are very personal pieces that are really just a therapy session where I write out my intentions on the canvas and then start to cover it up with mark making with pencils, crayon, graphite, ball point pens, sharpies, etc. and acrylic paints.  When the design and composition are just as I like, I use paint pens to embellish the front with more doodles of patterns, objects, important numbers, and flowers.  Each of these markings mean something to me as I am closing up the session and making my final marks to say goodbye to the painting.  I use symbols to represent feelings, obstacles I have over come, people in my life or sometimes just flowers.  They are comprised of several layers and take 1-2 weeks to complete, then they are covered in a matte varnish to seal the painting and protect from UV damage.

My art is guaranteed to last.  They are made with professional quality paints and coatings and are guaranteed to last for decades without fading or yellowing. (You should never put fine art in direct sunlight) Paintings are shipped with the greatest of care - preferably I would remove the painting from the canvas and ship in tube format if you are planning on framing it.  Otherwise they are shipped in large flat boxes with extra support for the corners and padding. Any claims of damage will need to go through the shipping company for damaged product claims, as I can ensure they leave the shipping store in the greatest of care in packaging your chosen art piece.

Funny Girl

I take commission orders for several different types of paintings, I recently did an abstract landscape that the owner was very pleased with and I hope to do many more.  Please note that due to my style of creating, if you see a painting on here that has been sold and want one similar, it will be just that - similar - not an exact copy. Especially with pour paintings, as I can only choose the colors and technique the rest is left for the painting to reveal itself and my expressionistic pieces are made with custom color mixes that can never be exactly matched and there are many layers underneath that can't been seen anymore so it will be a similar painting not a replica.

I'd love for you to keep coming back here to my site to see how my recovery art is progressing and evolving and even better, Come see me on First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Phoenix.  My spot is in front of Bud's Glass Joint on 5th Street right in front of the dance floor, so bring your dancing shoes and enjoy the live music as you gaze at all the amazing artists that are out there.  Art saves lives so support your local artists.
